Frisky is a lucky little kitten. She looks bigger then she is because she is all fur and eyes but
she is about 8 weeks old. Good Samaritains who live in a a house surrounded by woods heard her
crying and went to investigate. It is not clear what happened to little Frisky but she is not able
at this time to stand or bear weight on her back legs. She is extremely affectionate and loves to
be held and purr but would not have survived out in the elements for more then a day ot two unable
to seek saftey or find nourishment. Frisky is at the vets office receiving emergency care and
determining what care she is going to need to recover. Once she is recovered she will be looking for
a home she can call her own!
YES, I would like to donate to help care for Frisky and other injured animals who need our help!

Emergency Rescue Volunteers were called to the Coloma area because a dog had set up residence
underneath an unused van at the back of the callers property. Apparently the dog, will call her
Gracie, couldn't find any other place out of the elements of recent cold and rain to deliver her
newborn puppies. By the time it was discovered she was under the vehicle 3 of the puppies had
died from exposure. Rescue workers worked for over an hour to gain Gracie's trust and coax her
out of her den so that help could be rendered to her and her remaining two puppies. Once they
coaxed Gracie out she and her precious babies were rushed to a vets office for physical exams
and to get warmed up. Gracie is somewhat malnourished but is doing her best to be a good mom
for her two remaining babies. The babies, one girl, one boy, are also doing well.
YES, I would like to donate to help care for Gracie and her precious puppies!

Sheridan is a older (probably 15-16 yrs at least) kitty who was found in St. Joseph Township
wandering in circles. Sheridan has some vision problems and some serious medical issues that
will require immediate medical attention. Sheridan is desperately hoping to be reunited with
her owners but in the mean time Animal Aid will provide the emergency medical care to save
her life. ****SHERIDAN's owner was located after Animal Aid ran a found pet ad in the
newspaper! She had been missing for a week after getting out. Sheridan had never been
outside before this and obviously could not cope. Sheridan is now reunited with her family
and they will continue to oversee her medical treatment until she is recovered.
YES I would like to help Sheridan and other animals who have lost their way and need emergency help!

Deck the Halls with ME! Holly! Holly is a 10-11 week old kitten who was found on a farm after the residents had heard a kitten crying through the night but couldn't locate it. In daylight they discovered Holly cold, wet, and scared hunkered down under some equipment. Holly has what is most likely a birth defect of her front let that has left her with little use of this leg. Somehow during all this she also broke the paw on this leg. Holly has adjusted well to her disability and will live a happy life once she puts on a little weight and heals from her broken paw! With her handicap Holly would never have been able to survive outdoors on a farm. She would have been easy prey for coyotes or wild dogs. Holly will be given the chance to live her life to the fullest thanks to Animal Aid and our supporters!
YES I would like to help Holly and other animals like her. I will donate today!

Snowy is one of those really really good dogs that you have a hard time understanding how
something bad could happen to her. She loves living, she loves people, she offers kisses to
anyone who looks her way. How she ended up with a serious injury/ailment that causes her
legs to not do what they are supposed to is anyones guess. Found lying in a front yard the
resident didn't know what to do other then to call someone to help. Animal Aid received that
call and rescue volunteers quickly responded and fell in love with little Snowy. She is currently
at the vets office being evaluated and will require several diagnostic tests to determine the
cause and possible solutions to her mobility issues. What we do know us if left unrescued
lying out in the country in the area she was picked up in she woudl have not survived long on her
own. Unable to escape from predators such as coyote or wild dogs she would have suffered
immensely.
YES I would like to help Snowy walk again and live a happy life she deserves!

This is Big Foot! Named because a big "ole" foot didn't see her lying in the yard while he was
raking leaves and stepped on her. The reason she was lying in the laves all by herself is cause
she was sick and had a large abcess on her side. Running a dangerously high temperature and
weak she was rushed to the vets where she was quickly treated with a procedure to drain the
abcess and treated with fluids and antibiotics. Bigfoot is now on her way to being a healthy
happy kitty thanks to Animal Aid and its volunteers and supporters!

While our rescue workers were rescuing Boo Boo (below) they received a frantic call from
a good samaritian who had found a young cat lying in the road after being hit by a car.
Our rescue volunteers quickly coordinated a "double rescue" loading up Boo Boo and meeting
the good samaritian to collect Winkers the cat who was obviously seriously injured. Both
animals were then rushed to an emergency veterinarian who kindly juggled both emergencies
and offering both animals excellant emergency care! Winkers was found to have three broken
legs and the sweetest disposition. Surgery was required to repair the breaks and Winkers will
have several weeks of crate confinement while she recovers.

Boo Boo is a precious 3 month old puppy who has already had a tough life. Boo Boo's owners
had no idea the financial responsibilities of owning a dog nor the ability to keep Boo Boo
contained in his yard and safe from the hazards of the world. Boo Boo being the curious
little guy that he is decided to wander out into the road and was soon hit by a car. Animal
Aid was contacted when it was realized that without medical treatment this puppy most likely
would not live or would be horribly crippled for life but the owners were financially unable
or willing to care for him. Suffering from a broken back leg and a broken pelvis along with
a bruised bladder Boo Boo's medical treatment and rehabilitation will be costly and time
consuming. But we think this 3 month old Dachsaund puppy was worth it and we hope you agree!

Scamper & Scrapper are two lucky kittens. Their mom, a feral cat who apprently runs her
neighborhood mooching off various caregivers decided to move her babies into a garage
during the rain storms of August. Unbenownst to the homeowner who had placed rat poison
down to control their rodent population. When the owner discovered the kittens they were
both playing in the poison and were coated in it. Rescue volunteers quickly rounded up the
frisky strays and took them to the vet were they were treated for rat poisoning which left
untreated would have killed them.

It was a rainy, muddy morning when the police called our emergency rescue volunteers and
asked if they could help with a "dog problem". The problem turned out to be "Hope". A very
pregnant, very wet, very SICK girl who was lying in an alleyway in a puddle of water and mud.
Poor Hope seemed to have given up any hope that someone would help her. But alas, Animal Aid
was able to rush her to a vet where she was treated. A few days later, despite her fragile
condition, Hope gave birth to 11 puppies. Four of them died most likely largely due to their
mothers poor health conditions.
YES I want to Donate to Help Pay for Hope's Vet Bills and continuing care for her and her puppies!

Imagine receiving a phone call from the police about a dog that is "blocking traffic" on a
major bridge because he is "acting aggressive". The police didn't know if he was injured
but they needed help and our volunteers were the only ones called who were willing to
come out and help. What was discovered was that the "aggressive dog" (who warmed right
up to volunteers with a few kind words and some hot dogs) was actually guarding his
injured mate who lay out of site on the embankment. Both dogs were injured from unknown
causes but the female was barely able to walk and was lying out of site. Without the
"aggressive dog" calling attention to the situation she most likely would have died on
that hillside. Rescue volunteers rushed both both dogs to shelter and medical care where
they were treated and have fully recovered!

When you get as old as this girl you shouldn't have to worry about getting lost and no one
coming to find you. Or worse someone just dumping you because they don't want to deal
with your "old dog issues". So many questions for this old "Ghosty Girl" and no answers we
could find. Out of town visitors to Paw Paw Lake in Watervliet found this old girl lying
by the roadway having difficulty breathing. Suffering from heat exhaustion, malnutrition, and
other old age ailments, they didn't know what to do. So they called Animal Aid to come and
get "Ghosty Girl" the medical attention that she needed.

It was a cold stormy night and no one is really sure why this little kitten was out in the
elements. What we do know is that she was spotted lying in the roadway by a driver
who caught a glimpse of this kitten in her headlights and swerved quickly to avoid hitting
her. In doing so the driver saved the kittens life but wrecked her car and sustained
injuries. After the human victim of this accident was cared for the police department
called Animal Aid to help with "Stormy" the kitten. She was rushed to the vets office
and treated for a variety of ailments.

Life and death. That is what Animal Aid volunteers deal with every day. This is one of
three 10-12 day old kittens that were rescued by our volunteers. Rescue volunteers
received a call that 3 baby kittens were discovered in a shed after their mother was
killed by the property owners dog. After waiting two days for mom to come back and
care for them the babies started making their presence known. Rescue volunteers quickly
fed the babies with a bottle and formula as they began the process of locating a foster
home who could care for them, a time consuming job in itself as the babies will have to
be fed every couple of hours. These babys require specially formulated kitten milk
replacer that is very expensive ($15-20 per container) and will require vaccines
when they are 6 weeks of age. Once they are old enough they will be spayed or
neutered so that more kittens won't be produced to be left motherless.
YES I want to Donate to Help Pay these kittens food and Vet Bills so they can have the life they deserve!

Sometimes compassion and concern come from where you least expect it. Animal Aid Rescue
Volunteer Scott Morris received a call from a lady in Benton Harbor who had found a "dog"
on her front porch and something seemed to be wrong with it. Neighbor kids had been throwing
water on it and hitting it with a stick to try to make it go away and it sought refuge on her porch.
El Tigre (aka Tiger) is approximately 12 weeks old and weighs an amazing 29lbs! If his feet are any
indication he is going to be a big boy! Most likely a mastiff mix, El Tigre is being monitored at
the vets office but appears only to be petrified. The resident who called was afraid the puppy was
sick and needed medical attention and was worried that the children in the neighborhood would
continue to pester and harass the puppy. She explained to HER children, as they watched us load
the puppy in a vehicle for transport, that animals were a responsiblity and required money and
proper attention and that they were not intended to be picked on and treated carelessly. Animal
Aid strives daily through various means including our website, education programs, and our volunteers
interacting with the public, to educate adults AND children about the responsibilities of pet ownership.
EL Tigre will be monitored at the vets office for a couple days to make sure his symptoms are from
fear and mistreatment and not from a medical issue. He will be vaccinated, treated for parasites and
fleas and be neutered. El Tigres medical bill is expected to be around $250.00

Animal Aid believes every life is precious. Chrissy came to us when a local business called and
reported a sickly pregnant cat in their parking lot. Young, malnourished and deserately trying
to find a safe place to deliver her kittens, Chrissy needed our help. She was taken to a local
Veterinarians office where she delivered 5 kittens the very next day. So far mom and babes are
doing well although one of the kittens is having trouble getting enough food from malnourished
mom and will to be supplemented with bottle feedings. Now that mom is warm, receiving medical
care and quality food she is starting to thrive. CHrissy and her little families medical bill
includes medication, exams, supplements, and replacement formula as well as medical boarding.
Their bill is $155.00 and will go up when the kittens are old enough to be vaccinated.

If only she could speak! That sweet face does nothing to tell Mariah's story unless you look
deep into her eyes and see the confusion and sadness. This beautiful 1yr old yellow labrador
retriever was pushed out of a car on what the perpetrator thought was an abandoned country
road injured and confused.Thank goodness a nearby resident witnessed the incident and
called Animal Aid. Police & our cruelty investigator continue to investigate this illegal case
of abandonment and Mariah is looking for a new home where she will be loved AND wanted!
Mariah's medical bills include: Emergency Exam, antibiotic medication, heartworm test, vaccines,
and medical boarding. Her Medical Bill is $168.00

3/12/2009 - My name is Plumber and he is very sad. He had a family of his own and was happy
for 8 years. Then his dad died and his mom had to be moved into assisted living and Plumber
couldn't go along. Now this neutered male is homeless and confused as the life he knew has
disappeared. Animal Aid is assisting in finding him a new home!
3/4/2009 - Calico the Kitten! We are not sure what is going on in our community but suddenly
people think its ok to abandon their unwanted animals in boxes on the side of the road. Not
only is this dangerous to the abandoned pets it is illegal and persons that are found doing
this WILL be prosecuted. Calico is a 4 month old kitten found in a box on the side of the
road. She was a little thin, had fleas and internal parasites. Her medical bill includes: Exam,
FELV/FIV test, wormer, flea treatment, and vaccines. Her bill thus far is: $135.00

3/2/2009 -Meet Dobby! Can you believe that someone taped this sweet little girl in a cardboard box,
poked a few holes in the sides and left her sitting on the side of the road. However her life of
misery started long before that. Suffering from severe malnourishment and loaded with parasites
this little girl is just lucky to be be alive. Vet's estimate her age at somewhere between 10-12 months
and Animal Aid is determined that her remaining years will be full of love and the happiness she
deserves. Her total vet bill which includes blood work, fecal test, vaccines, special high nutrition
diet and boarding is currently just under $100.00.

2/27/2009-These two active, social, and loving boys are Starsky & Hutch. Police where called to a local senior
citizens apartment complex after maintence workers found these two 4 month old pups tossed in the
trash dumpster and the lid secured so they could not escape. The police officer pulled them from the
dumpster and contacted Animal Aid to assist in getting these to malnourished and abandoned boys
some help. We are sure that the individual who criminally abandoned these two boys never gave a
thought that by locking them in a dumpster that they were exposing these two starving dogs to a ton
of dangerous trash that they would ingest along with the garbage the scavanged in to find food.
Both boys are being carefully monitored for blockages at a local vets office as they continue to pass
garbage bags, metal bits, and other extremely dangerous non edible objects. These boys will be
availabe for adoption very soon. Their medical treatment includes medical boarding and monitoring,
special dietery food, antibiotics, parasite treatment, vaccines, and lots of love! Their total vet
bills are $364.80

2/13/2009 Say hello to Lottie! She is a sweet, loveable, and very affectionate young lady who suffered a
traumatic injury to her neck. A customer at a local grocery store found her lying in the parking lot
and knew right away that she needed help! She immediately contacted Animal Aid and the kitty
was rushed to a local vets office for care. Lottie is a tiny girl who is approximately 9 months old.
Her medical care has included wound care, antibiotics, skin treatment, vaccines, FELV/FIV testing,
and medical boarding. Her total vet bill is $ 587.80

2/17/2009 Introducing Elmer MUDD! This adorable teddy bear of a pup was hit by truck. His "owner" didn't want
to take him to the vet for treatment because she thought he was going to die anyway. So she placed him
outside in the rain, lying in mud and soaked to the skin. A concerned citizen made contact with Animal
Aid and our volunteer rescuers convinced the owner to relinquish ownership of the puppy so that
medical treatment could be sought. Elmer MUDD sustained injuries to his front chest and legs area and
was severely bruised. Luckily nothing was broken. His medical treatment has included x-rays,
pain medications, vaccines, parasite treatment, and medical boarding. His total vet bill is $645.20
